Fluid Facts for Athletes
Copyright: Nancy Clark, MS, RD March 2007
If you are a serious athlete who works up a
good sweat, you might have wondered how much
you should drink before, during and after a
hard workout. According to the American
College of Sports Medicine's latest update on
fluid needs for athletes (1), only you can
determine that answer because fluid needs
vary greatly from person to person. Here's
what ACSM has to say:
|Choosing Teammates & Dynamics of Your Team
Copyright: Adventure Racing Zone
An adventure race can be the experience of a
lifetime or it can be down right hellish
depending on your teammates. You need to be
able to laugh off or blow off mistakes and
make the best of the situation. If you don't
have those qualities personally, develop them
or find a new sport. If your teammates don't
have these qualities, find new teammates.
|USA Fit AR Hosts AR Clinic at Sugar Land Park Grand Opening
The City of Sugar Land has asked USA Fit
Racing to help make their November 10th Memorial
Park at Brazos River Park Grand Opening an
themed event by hosting an adventure racing

visitors to the sport of adventure racing by
various disciplines of our sport in several
mini-clinics (MTB Skills, Navigation,
Paddling and AR

The 420-acre park is located along the Brazos

restrooms, parking areas, playground, canoe
and open space for sport activities as well
as a lake.
We will be teaming with Houston Fit AR coaches,
GHORBA and others to help organize the

|GHORBA Memorial Park Trail Work Party
Eight of our members showed up early Saturday,
September 22nd to help GHORBA work on the
badly eroded Memorial Park trails. In all, 30
volunteers divided into mini work crews and
tackled nearly every section of trail at
Memorial Park and the Triangle. We hope you
all enjoy the improvements!
Thank you Andrea S., Lindsey, Adam, Andrew,
Kevin and Kathy for being so generous
with your time. Stay tuned to GHORBA's
website for more
opportunities to lend a helping hand. www.ghorba.org
Every member should have received two guest
passes for this season. Each guest pass is
good for one person, one
practice (mock race excluded). This is a
great opportunity to invite one (or two) of
your friends to come and play with us one
evening (or one Saturday). All your guest has
to do is
fill out the pass and bring it with them to
the practice of their choice.
Just make sure to turn it in to one of the
Coaches or Organizers before practice starts.
We hope to see a lot of new faces out there
